Marching on Together!

Leeds United seemed certain for a lengthy spell outside the top flight since being relegated in the 2003-04 Season, but little over a year now and they look like promotion contenders. Currently 4th in the Championship, if they can maintain their run, who knows, next season Elland Road might be back on the Premiership Map!

Here we go, with Leeds United!

Journey to the Stars.

Just had to mention about our recent trip to lotsa places near Ooty and Kotagiri. The trip dubbed (be me!) as the 'Journey to the Stars' was a memorable one and the panaromic view of the Kodanandu View Point continues to linger in our minds!

...will blog about it soon - in detail!

Kick Off!

The Premiership season kicks off again this Saturday (August 13th) and it promises to be an entertaining season. With Man U and Arsenal the only other teams with realistic chances of toppling Chelsea from the top of the table, it looks like a three horse race to the title with Chelsea way ahead of the other two.

Man U have the squad and the players to prove they are still the Man U which won the treble a couple of years ago. Upfront they have the prolific van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Smith and Saha - though he hasn't been as effective. Moreover there are stories linking ManU with Owen, and if that materialises, it could be one of the best attacks in the permiership. After the Rio-saga, they look solid at the back as well, but only time will tell whether van der Sar can fill in Schemichel's boots. Another worrying part is the midfield marshaled by the aging Keane. They need a couple of good signings and the rumours about Ballack would be welcome! He would instantly command a place in the team.

Every team would like to test Arsenal now - the Gunners without Veira. Will they be able to cope up without Veira? That seems to be the million dollar question. They do have very good youngsters like Fabregas and Flamini and the signing of Hleb does seem promising. And with Henry up front with Bergkamp, Reyes or van Persie they can penetrate any defence.

On the other hand, Chelsea do not have to worry about replacing players as they have ample resource waiting in the wings. With 2 players fighting for each position they keep up the tempo and their game plan very nicely indeed. Wright-Phillips gives more depth to the midfield which in turn covers up for their lack of a striker like Henry or van Nistelrooy. Though they were linked with a host of players like Ronaldinho, Baptista, Robinho and including Shevchenko, they failed to bring even one of then to Stamford Bridge. If somehow they manage to lose the title, complacency could have played a very big part!

Is there something wrong with 7 Beta? After installing beta versions of IE7 and Y! Messenger 7, all I have been doing is staring at alternate crashes! Looks like they have a pact or some sorta agreement to irritate and make me go crazy! If IE works for sometime, Yahoo crashes, and vice versa! Sheesh! Enough of all this crap! Should stick to FireFox and Msn I guess!

Somewhere over the rainbow...

Try listening to it with eyes closed and the volume up on the high bar...Slash and Steve Vai - need no introduction - are outstanding with their traditional style of play, and it almost transforms you to another world, another dimension where time stops and everything stands still to listen and observe you!

Another excellent piece is Steve Vai's version of Beethoven's 5th Symphony!Listen to it and then do the talking!

The Rio Saga ends!

Looks like Ferdinand's pay-me-more saga ended after he agreed for a 4 year deal worth 100,000 Pounds per week!(yes..per week!). After getting a bit of stick from the fans for stalling his contract talks and amidst rumours that his agent was holding out for 120,000 Pounds, it looked like Ferdinand was about to walk out on Man U, but somehow things changed...All for the good, I hope!.

Celebrity Jeopardy!

Can anything better this? Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds, Tom Cruise, Hillary Swank...And the list goes on. This is one hell of a show and will leave you rolling on the aisles! I, for one, like a good laugh every now and then!
Do the celebrities watch as well? I certainly hope not! ;)

Stranded!

What a weekend! And I mean the weekend right from Saturday morning...Very very early in the morning!

OK...Going back to Friday, things seemed to be normal with the usual work going on when all of a sudden I get this call from one of my friends and he says the trains were cancelled and so there were problems in heading back home..uh oh....Looks like a bright beginning! Now, to make things a bit more easier to understand, I was using this guy's bus ticket and he in turn was using another guy's train ticket. So now that the train was cancelled, he needed a ticket to go home and since I had his ticket,I offered it back to him (I was always so generous! hehe). So here I was, with the weekend looming, with packed bags but no ticket. After a bit of researching and calling up different agencies, I finally managed to get a ticket - phew!

Off to the boarding place I go, and to make my tummy happy I go and grab a quick bite but no sooner had I put a mouthful, my mobile goes 'to to to' (well a very sad and bad representation of my ring tone!) and another friend of mine calls up saying the train is cancelled and no tickets to go home - but desperately wants to go home! As mentioned above, me being the generous kind - after a few more calls to a few more agencies - called back saying "come over as soon as possible!". OK that's settled now!..No way...It's just the beginning!

We somehow settle in and the bus starts to move slowly. After an hour the driver stops and I think to myself that it's some kinda traffic jam or a toll booth. We wait for around 30 mins...Then another 30 mins!...And wait a minute...If there is indeed a traffic jam, how the heck are the other vehicles going??Duh!!. After some more time (infact a very long time) I get down to check out what's going on and then find out the true situation - The bus is out of fuel! What??!! Did they think buses ran on air? Or literally 'horse' power?. So my friend and I get down to catch another bus and go 'bus hopping' in an attempt to reach home or the nearest civilized place. Picture this...A guy and a girl with packed bags, standing in the middle of nowhere waiting to get some means of transportation and all this at 4:00 'O clock in the morning! - Certainly not the weekend I had planned - things did look bleak.

Meanwhile, the driver (the bright fellow who didn't fill up the tank!) and a few other workers had managed to get some oil, diesel, water..And whatever they needed to try and breathe some life into this limp bus, and were doing their best to get something done....And all of a sudden, the still calm of the early morning is broken by the roar of the engine!Gloryosky!. All of us pile in again and start our eventful journey and reach home around noon without much problem (after filling it up - ofcourse!)

That was the weekend...Now it's back to work again! Can't wait for the weekend again!
