Day 4

What a game! The Japanese lead through a Nakamura goal from the 28th minute and were all set to win the game when all of a sudden, with 6 minutes remaining, Japan didn't know what hit them, It was a man called Cahill who hit the Japanese hard by first equalizing and then scoring his second to give the soceroos the lead, and a potential win, and then Aloisi completed the comeback by firing in the third in injury time. Australia scripted a fairytale comeback with their first goal and win in the World Cup. Earlier Nakamure scored a controversial goal to put the Japanese ahead but in the end, the Australia got the result they craved and fought for.
Australia 3-1 Japan
26-Nakamura(JPN), 84,89-Cahill(AUS), 92-Aloisi(AUS)

The Czech Republic and the USA promised to be cracker, but in the end, only one team played - the Czech. Right from the start, they took the game away from the US and the giant striker, Jan Koller, made his header look so easy that it took the sting away from Bruce Arena's team. New Gunner signing, Rosicky, made it 2-0 to the Czechs and then score a deserved second to make the final scoreline a 3-0 drubbing. The Czechs are looking really strong and the game against Italy will be much awaited. The US, on the other hand, have an uphill task as they face Ghana and the mighty Italians.
Czech Republic 3-0 USA
5-Koller(CZE), 36,76-Rosicky(CZE)

The important game of the night - for me, at least - was between Italy and Ghana in Hanover. The Italians were expected to win, but Ghana had the talented Essien to run things from the midfield. The game started with some end to end football, and surprisingly the African nation were also producing some fine attacking moves. But the dogged Italian defence marshalled by Cannavaro, was able to thwart all the attempts. At the other end, Fiorentina's Luca Toni was causing all sorts of problems for the Ghanaian defence and was denied only by the crossbar. As I had mentioned earlier, Toni may be the man people watch, but the key lies at the back of the midfield - with Milan's Andrea Pirlo. Pirlo pulls the strings and if he has a good game, Italy would undoubtedly have a good outing too. Against the Ghanaian's, Pirlo orchestrated almost every move with precision and got the deserved opener just before half-time. In the second half, Ghana started to attack in search of the equaliser but yet again, the famous Italian defence held on. Lippi brought on del Piero for the impressive TOni and Iaquinta for Gilardino to make sure they get maximum points out of this game and the change did the trick. With 7 minutes. Iaquinta put the game beyond doubt by rounding the keeper and sliding the ball into the open net. Once again the move was started by Prilo, who has to be the man of the match.
Italy 2-0 Ghana
40-Pirlo(ITA), 83-Iaquinta(ITA)
