BSNL BB Woes

After much hassle and phone calls, I finally got a BSNL Broadband connection at my Dad's place so that it's better than the slow dial up we have but it was more a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire! OK. First of all I was not keen on BSNL but the fact that they were the only ones available in that area gave me no choice but to go with them. After applying for one, and waiting for quite a long time someone finally got the very neatly done (am being sarcastic here!) connection ready.

Now...fast forward to a few months later; I am absolutely SICK of the BSNL broadband! It's hopeless, worthless and what not! - add any other expletive you want. A simple capture shows how good it is.

This is how the connection is (if you can call it a connection!), and this does not happen to me alone. Most of my friends who had no other choice (like yours truly) but to take a BSNL BB are going through the same road! Mind you, the timing out or not reachable is not due to a router/network or any other third party problem - the fact is the ADSL link is so bloody flaky that the connection stays up for 2 minutes then drops, reconnects and so on and so forth. My old dial up was slow (like the Tortoise) but was consistent and can get your work done over time, but the BSNL BB is fast (like the Hare) and you can get nothing done apart from losing your patience. In short, it leaves a bitter aftertaste in the mouth! Never again, would I want to go for or recommend it even for my worst enemy!

...and just for the record, I have an Airtel BB at home in B'lore and its awesome!
